2013 MLB Preview: Arizona Diamondbacks

2013 MLB Preview: Arizona Diamondbacks
Diamondbacks

The D'Backs have made some quiet moves during the off-season to add depth to their bench and bullpen. The recent signing of J.J. Putz gives their off-season transactions an argument of progress and restoration of depth, and will potentially take a load off of Heath Bell.

Let's be honest. This team with live and die with Mr. Upton. As he goes, the team will go. Along with him guys like Bloomquist, Goldschmidt, Ross and crew will have to leg out the opposing teams in the National League West. I think it is safe to say that any of those mentioned above are safe picks for a fantasy team. You may want to keep in mind that their park in Arizona is not the smallest of parks, but the ball does carry fairly well.

The overall prediction for this team is give a wild card run but fall short after the All Star Break.
Fantasy advice for this squad: Go for it. A lot of these position players can play and they don't get a whole lot of publicity. These guys would be great later round picks for any fantasy draft.

2013 MLB Preview: Atlanta Braves

2013 MLB Team Preview
Atlanta Braves

With the big splash off-season signing of BJ Upton, the team will still have a slight hole in the line-up with the absence of some guy named Chipper. With that hole along with the missing piece of Bourn's great 2012 campaign, the line-up still has a spot open for the taking from an offensive stand point. In the mean time we are all just waiting around for the time that Mr. Heyward has his real coming out party and becomes one of the elite.

The pitching staff is sturdy. The majority of that sturdiness comes from the backbone of a bullpen brought to you by Kimbrel and company...but mostly just Kimbrel. With Medlen on the bump every 5 days for the whole season, this staff has what it takes to hold teams down enough.

Freddi Gonzales proved his worthiness this past year although last season seemed to be carried by Chipper and his going away party. This team's success will be put into the hands of Freddi and how he manages the players and the average depth of personnel.
Here's to a successful 2013 for the Braves, and no more dang infield fly calls!
